THE TOP 5 WII U LAUNCH GAMES
The list of games that will be available when the Nintendo Wii U launches on November 18th is impressive. When prior consoles have debuted with lackluster titles, the Wii U looks to buck that trend, as it showcases a number of strong, well-recognized titles and franchises. Here is Flydrs top 5 Wii U titles and why you should consider them when you get your new system.
New Super Mario Bros. U
Arguably the most well-known franchise in video game history, the impact that Mario Bros. has had on the gaming industry cannot be denied. As such, it’s easy to understand why New Super Mario Bros. U is such a big deal. With major elements from classic games like Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World, and the solid controls that are always present in Mario games, New Super Mario Bros. U should feel right at home. While there isn’t a multiplayer mode, new features like Boost Rush mode add a different take on the series. Not to mention the fact that the Wii U GamePad allows for an entirely new way to play the game. New Super Mario Bros. U is one of the can’t-miss games on launch day.
When Ubisoft first unveiled ZombiU, it took quite a few people by surprise, given the fact this is Nintendo we’re talking about here. Sure, zombies are extremely popular right now. Treyarch has shown how popular a zombies game mode can be in their recent Call of Duty games, and the hit show on AMC, The Walking Dead, has captivated audiences with its take on the zombie apocalypse. But a zombie exclusive on the Wii U?
That’s exactly what Ubisoft has done with ZombiU, and the results look amazing. Set in London, ZombiU has shown remarkable use of the Wii U GamePad, and is a game that any self-respecting zombie fan should be salivating over. From the dark, foreboding setting, to the shock moments, ZombiU is a game that is sure to pack excitement and surprises. Adding to the complexity, when your playable character has been overrun and infected, you must find him / her and dispatch of them to regain your lost items and loot. ZombiU is shaping up to be one of 2012’s best games, and certainly one of Wii U’s best launch day games.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has recently been announced to be a launch day release, which many fans of the series are pleasantly pleased about. While there is only the standard edition of the game available at this time, the Wii U version of Black Ops 2 boasts some impressive features that set it apart from its PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts, namely how it utilizes the Wii U GamePad. When playing with a friend on the same console, no longer do you need to have the annoying split screen. On the Wii U, one player can play entirely on the GamePad screen, and the other on the TV screen with either a Wiimote / Nunchuk or the new Pro controller.
For multiplayer, the GamePad will also come in handy. There will be the ability to change options on the fly, as well as a real-time map allowing players to see the battlefield without pausing. With the release date being pushed up to launch day, it might now be a difficult decision on which system to play on. Check out the trailer to see Black Ops 2 in action on the Wii U.
Assassin’s Creed 3
The Assassin’s Creed franchise has been a hit for years. With Assassin’s Creed 3, it’s also making it’s way to the Wii U. While the game comes out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 a few weeks earlier, it might be worthwhile to wait and get it for Wii U. Not only do the graphics look very crisp and the gameplay fluid, on par or perhaps even better than the PS3 / Xbox 360 counterparts, the GamePad also has some useful features with AC3. Inventory can be swapped in and out, and there is also a radar feature on the GamePad during naval battles. Fans of Assassin’s Creed need to definitely consider waiting and picking up AC3 on the Wii U.
While it’s true Fifa 13 is already out right now on the other major consoles, fans should be excited about Fifa 13 on Wii U as well. The highlight is how the GamePad is used with the game, whether it be to quickly see where other players are at on the map, to making quick changes with the various menus and tabs that are on the touch screen. Fans who already have Fifa 13 on the PS3 or 360 will understandably spend their money elsewhere, but for those who like sports games and do not have it yet, Fifa 13 on Wii U will be a definite draw. Considering it’ll be one of the few sports games available on release day, Fifa 13 will satisfy fans of soccer and sports in general, and represents one of the best games on the Wii U launch. The video below shows the various uses of the GamePad for Fifa 13.
