AMAZON INSTANT VIDEO – PLAYSTATION 3 REVIEW

AMAZON INSTANT VIDEO – PLAYSTATION 3 REVIEW

Amazon Prime, the subscription service offered by Amazon featuring free 2 day shipping, recently released an app on Playstation 3 for its Amazon Instant Video service.  This free app allows users to access the over 100,000 titles available on the premium instant video service.

For existing Prime members and people that watch other video applications such as Netflix and Hulu on their Playstation 3, this is a great download.  While many of the hit series like AMC’s The Walking Dead and HBO’a Game of Thrones are pricey, there is a significant amount of free material that is available to Prime members at no charge.  Series like Sons of Anarchy, Man Vs. Wild, and even classics like The X-Files and The Wonder Years are all readily available.  Non-prime members must pay the dreaded inflated per episode price.

For members of Amazon Prime, the Amazon Instant Video app is a solid addition to the Playstation Network.  While it might not be a selling point at this time, it certainly adds value to the membership.  Although it would be nice to see more free content for prime members, Instant Video could prove to be a strong player alongside Netflix and Hulu, and is a must download for any current Amazon Prime member who owns a PS3.
